About Kristen
Kristen R. Lee is a native of Memphis, Tennessee. After graduating from college, she wrote a fictionalized version of her experience of attending a predominantly white institution, which was published as Required Reading for the Disenfranchised Freshman; its companion Sun Keep Rising celebrated the strength and determination of girls and women like those she grew up among, especially those who find themselves tangled in seemingly-impossible circumstances. She’s worked as a mentor for foster youth and has interned in a school setting, where she counseled middle-school-aged children. Currently, she is an MFA student and English adjunct at Drexel University. Writing stories that reflect often-unheard voices is what she strives to do.
